Clay Snozzcumbers

Find out about the disgusterous snozzcumber, the very much hated food of the BFG. Inspired by this quirky vegetable you’ll get your hands messy and make your own snozzcumber out of clay. You can then decorate it to make it even more spectacular.

£4 per person plus Museum entry. Suitable for age 5 and up. Approx 45 minutes.

Big Friendly Play

Wednesday 26 July, Wednesday 9 August

Perfect for drama lovers! Work together to tell the entire story of the BFG and Sophie in just one minute. We’ll freeze important scenes from the book, decide how they should sound and explore how different characters show themselves to the world as well as playing some warm-up games.

£5 per person plus Museum entry. Suitable for age 7 and up. Approx 1 hour.

Create a Dream Jar

Want to capture dreams, like the BFG? Inspired by the story, create your own miniature dream jar and use lots of craft materials to make some wonderful whirling colours and patterns inside.

Superpowers with Natural History Museum Tring

Join the Natural History Museum at Tring to explore the BFG’s superpowers and where they are found in the animal kingdom. From super hearing to super strides you’ll find out about a range of animals and create your own animal craft to take home

£4 per person plus Museum entry. Suitable for age 5 and up. Approx 45 minutes.

Swishwiffling Science

Join in with our super science workshop inspired by The BFG. We’ll investigate the fizz in frobscottle, how slimy a snozzcumber might be and more!  This is a hands-on, investigating workshop perfect for budding scientists or those with curious minds… 

£4 per person plus Museum entry. Suitable for age 5 and up. Approx 45 minutes.

Big Friendly Walk

Thursday 3, Thursday 17 and Thursday 31 August

Stretch your legs and explore the picture-perfect village of Great Missenden, the place that inspired so many of the stories. Follow in the BFG’s footsteps as you walk up the High Street, take a peek at the building that inspired Sophie’s orphanage and take a peek at Giant Country.

£4 per person plus Museum entry. All ages welcome but do bear in mind that the walk lasts 45 minutes to an hour. The walk is level, with some slight inclines, it’s mostly on pavement but there are some paths that may be muddy. The Museum and Library are step free.
