Cokethorpe School GCSE Results Day 2023

divider

A first taste of public examination, a continued flavour of success as pupils receive their GCSE results.

Congratulations to Fifth Form pupils at Cokethorpe School who have today received the results of their efforts after months and years of preparation.

After 80% of Upper Sixth UCAS applicants were accepted to their first-choice universities, following the A Level and BTEC results last week, there were further collective successes today for the Fifth Form. Almost one fifth of pupils received eight or more grade 9-7s – the equivalent of an ‘A’ or above on the old grading system.

Among the subjects, more than half of pupils achieved 9/8 grades for English Language and Music, whilst 100% of Ancient Greek results were awarded 9/8, and 42% of Drama results were awarded the top grade.

Commenting, the Headmaster, Mr Ettinger, said: ‘There are undoubtedly some headline-grabbing results across the picture for our pupils. Whilst we are a School that celebrates the successes of all of our pupils, there are a few whom I would like to highlight as being deserving of particular merit. Two pupils achieved nine grade 9s and one grade 8, another seven grade 9s and one grade 8, and another with five 9s and 5 grade 8s.

‘I look forward to seeing how these pupils embrace the challenges ahead as they step up to become among the leaders in the School, making the transition to Sixth Form and the next chapter of their education.

‘I would like to thank and pay compliment to our ever-supportive parents and our excellent staff, who, between them, play such an important role in our pupils’ successes.’
