Cotswold Barbeque Restaurant Turns into Takeaway

divider

One of the largest restaurants in the Cotswolds, The Upton Firehouse is to become a one stop takeaway in light of its forced closure due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

As many businesses are allowed to open as lockdown eases the hospitality will be the last to be given the green light, possibly in July, and even then it will be under severe social distancing measures.

The Firehouse will be doing take away pizza on Wednesdays, while Friday evenings will be a barbeque take away, in the style they were doing before the corona virus outbreak, dishes such as chilli and lime chicken, Buffalo wings, bavette steaks, smoked salmon and various salads.

“We were used to cooking for 150 to 200 people a day before the pandemic and while we understand the importance of the lockdown and the easing we have to support local or we will no longer be here,” explained chef and business owner Jak Doggett. “We are offering something quite different up here and using the best of local to produce a great takeaway and are using great butchers and fishmongers to give you the best.”

The Firehouse is based at the smokery at Upton where there is also a shop on the site as there is currently one that sells smoked food items, wine cheese and Firehouse chef’s Sam & Jak sauces and products including racks of ribs, slow cooked beef brisket and ready meals, including some of their Thai offerings.

Pizza Night take way is on Wednesdays 5 4pm – 8pm. Friday Night BBQ Takeaway pick up runs from 5pm-8pm orders for BBQ Takeaway info@samandjak.co.uk

Oxford’s George Street has seen plenty of eateries come and go over the years, but its recent addition, Rosa's Thai has made an indelible mark on the city, charming us with its welcoming atmosphere, sensational food, and what may honestly have been the best service either of us have had before.
