I’m as susceptible to trend as the next person and despite not having watched Bridgerton (is this something I should be admitting?) I’m nonetheless enjoying the upsurge in all things refined, sophisticated and just a little flamboyant.

I am also a confirmed Austenite and have long been dreaming of a stay at Henry’s Townhouse, the Grade II-listed, canopy-bedded, wood-panelled, marble-floored building in Marylebone where Austen’s brother, Henry once lived. Happily, even if a mini-break isn’t on the cards, I can now enjoy the fragrances which perfume the rooms in my own home, courtesy of the candle collection.

The signature fragrance, Henry’s Townhouse, is inspired by the amber-scents popular in the 18th century and other blends include Marylebone Booms (citrussy, elegant and floral with delicate jasmine and orange flower), The Carriage Snug (warm, leathery notes balanced with aromatic lavender and buttery vetiver), the gourmet Monsieur Halavant’s Pantry (spice-rich with a hint of resinous pine), the Loiterer (a bibliophile’s delight of honeyed suede) and Bohea (an homage to the hothouse which balances succulent fig and peach with the freshness of black tea and green bergamot).

Best of all, the ceramic bisque holder, decorated with gold leaf silhouettes (all the rage in Regency England) will live on long past the forty hours burn time.
