Custom Build is Best

Five reasons why

With stunning countryside and easy access to the big city, Oxfordshire already offers buyers the best of both worlds, so why shouldn’t the area’s homes also offer the same amount of flexibility?

While still a relatively new concept in the UK, custom building has taken the property sector by storm, offering a happy medium between self build and new build homes.

Custom building gives people the opportunity to tailor the finish of their home, without the pressure of managing the construction themselves. However, there are plenty more reasons why custom build homes are so special.

A home that ticks every box

Custom build homes come in all shapes and sizes, so whether buyers are looking to take their first step onto the property ladder, upgrade to a larger family home, or simply purchase a more accessible and flexible property, custom build homes can be as unique as their owners.

Built around individuality

Those who choose to go down the custom build route will have the opportunity to pick from a menu of options for their new home, including fixtures and fittings. These choices put the homeowner firmly in charge of the finer details, while leaving all the heavy lifting to the professionals.

The sooner in the building process that the home is purchased, the more choice the buyer has –resulting in a move-in-ready home that is tailored to each buyer’s requirements.

High quality, without compromise

For most people, quality is a key ingredient for creating the perfect home.

Due to their bespoke nature, the quality of a custom build new home is often higher than that of a conventional new build, so there is no need to compromise between high standards and design.

Centered around community

If one thing is certain about custom builders, it is that each and every one has something special to bring to the community.

Custom build new homes are as unique as those who live in them, meaning the look and feel of custom build communities are often worlds apart from standard new build developments. Sites like Graven Hill are designed with individuality in mind, factoring different character areas into the development. This gives residents the chance to choose their perfect location, whether that be an area in the centre of the village or a property on the outskirts, benefiting from the rural views.

Designed for all budgets

It may come as a surprise but many custom build new homes, including those at Graven Hill, are eligible for the Help to Buy scheme.

Applying for a 20 percent equity loan from the Government is straightforward, meaning that only five percent cash deposit is needed, and a mortgage of 75 percent would cover the rest.

For some, the idea of buying a home that meets their needs can feel like a distant dream. However, the housing industry is changing. The dial has shifted, and innovation and creativity are coming out on top. Custom build homes now provide buyers with a range of choice, something that would have seemed impossible just a decade ago.

Karen Curtin is managing director of Graven Hill, the UK’s largest self and custom build community.
