The stage is being prepared and the dance companies booked for Oxford’s biggest annual free dance extravaganza held in Leiden Square at Westgate Oxford on Saturday 5 March between 12 noon – 5pm.

Claire Thompson, City Arts Development Officer and Festival founder said ‘We are so pleased to be back in the best place for our annual dance festival launch. Westgate Oxford is a natural pairing as it can safely accommodate large audiences giving everyone a fabulous view of the dance stage. This year, as usual, we showcase the inspirational work of four local youth dance groups featuring children of all ages and three professional companies. Whether people make a date to come or happen upon it by accident there will be something to admire and to enjoy.’

Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, commented “We are delighted to kickstart the Dancin’ Oxford annual festival this year, for the first time since the pandemic. The dance festival is a great way to showcase local and international talent. We are confident the event will be a success and are looking forward to Leiden Square being filled with fantastic dance performances.”

The Festival launch has three professional companies Richard Chappell Dance, which will be appearing in a full length work at the Oxford Playhouse on 14th March, Oxford based Euton Daley and his Unlock the Chains Collective and the international dance artists Joli Vyann. The ever-popular Zumba party returns and there will performances from local youth dance groups including Step2 Dance, Body Politic, TPD Young Artists and Mini Professionals.
