Frampton Country Fair 2023

divider

Organisers of the 35th Frampton Country Fair are promising another outstanding show - including some exciting new displays. This year’s event takes place on Sunday 10th September. The normally quiet village of Frampton on Severn is expected to play host to over 10,000 visitors.

The scale of the event is a far cry from the very modest fixture that first took place in 1986. Back then a small group of country pursuits' enthusiasts decided to put together a few displays and competitions. They had no idea that there would be so much keen interest in the country way of life and traditional country skills.

Frampton Country Fair is a non profit making event which supports charities and good causes relating to the countryside and local area.

Other activities in the main ring will include a members of the Poppy Parachute Display Team dropping in from a very great height, dog agility demonstrations, inter-hunt relay, hound parade and some serious competition amongst the tent pegging teams who will be galloping across the park and aiming for a 12 inch wooden stake with their lances.

The man in charge of the event is Rollo Clifford: “Amazingly the planning for this year’s Fair started only a couple of days after we took the tents down last year. A huge amount of effort goes into pulling all the exhibitors and demonstrations together but the result on the day is fantastic. We’re always looking at new displays and demonstrations. Apart from being a great day out for the whole family the event is first and foremost a showcase the countryside. Helping to promote skills and crafts which have literally shaped the beautiful surroundings which we treasure so much.”.

"I'm sure that one of the other reasons for its popularity in the venue. The lakes and surrounding area are designated as a site of Special Scientific Interest which gives some idea of their attractiveness and the diversity of wildlife that lives there. We try as far as possible to make sympathetic use of this very special environment. Few other shows anywhere in the country can demonstrate fly fishing on open water.”

Almost 400 trade stands will display everything from local cheeses to dog and equestrian equipment. There will be country clothing retailers, leather goods, DIY tools, exotic plants and everything in between.
