What's On, Science

IF Oxford Starts Today!

Months of planning for a month of activities. We hope you enjoy the hundreds of free events that bring you a spark of the arts and technology.
The Festival begins today but we don't have to make a song and dance about it, because there is a world premiere of a motion capture dance film for you to see on 3 October. Convergent Pulses is a short animated artwork using motion-captured dance, rendered in gorgeous digital technicolour, to explore how movement is coordinated within living beings.

You don’t just have to watch, there are 100 events to be social, with Festival activities every day over the next month. Whet your appetite with quizzes to stretch your knowledge and other food for thought with a focus on coffee, gin, apples, chocolate, exploring our relationship with food and it’s costs to the planet.

Make yourself a drink and join us in the Living Library for some friendly chat about a range of topics including space, the environment and health. Or jump into Greek mythology as a fun and interactive way to reflect on the politics of today – has anything really changed?

Visit Explorazone Digital for hands-on science demonstrations, screenings and activities to try at home for all ages.
