Lagan Homes is given the green light for a development of 15 new homes in West Hanney.

Award-winning developer Lagan Homes is set to deliver an exciting new development of fifteen beautiful three and four bedroom homes located off School Road on the eastern edge of the small village of West Hanney. Construction is about to begin on the site, which will provide much needed new housing for the area. In addition to the homes for private sale, the development will include five two and three bedroom semi-detached properties which have been allocated as either shared ownership or rented homes, responding to local housing need.

Sympathetically designed to blend seamlessly with the existing architecture in this delightful village, the development will include a range of different house styles creating attractive street scenes. All the homes will have allocated parking spaces, with some properties also including car ports.

The greenfield site, which was formerly farmland, will be accessed via a new tree-lined avenue off School Road, which will run through the centre of the development. An existing public footpath marks the western boundary of the site and areas of green open space near the entrance and alongside the footpath will frame this thoughtfully designed development.

This latest scheme is Lagan Homes’ fourth in the area, following three previously completed developments at East Hanney - The Shires, The Stables and The Paddocks. Situated along the old Roman road between Oxford and Wantage in the Vale of the White Horse, East and West Hanney lie within a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and Lagan Homes is proud to be creating another lasting legacy in this, the smaller of the two sought-after Hanneys.

Annette Thompson, sales and marketing manager at Lagan Homes comments: “We are delighted to have been awarded planning permission from the Vale of White Horse District Council to deliver this stunning collection of new homes at West Hanney. A proportion of the homes are allocated to affordable housing to meet local need and we are pleased to be playing an important role in bringing these homes to the area.”

Annette continues: “We have learnt from our three previous developments at the Hanneys that this area is an aspirational place to live, not only for its delightful countryside setting, but also for its easy access to nearby areas including Abingdon and Oxford.”

Annette concludes: “This scheme has been meticulously planned to contribute positively to the area. We will be investing significantly in landscaping, including a structured high planting border along the eastern boundary of the site, a hedge alongside the public footpath and many new trees.”

Lagan Homes is also making significant contributions towards local services, infrastructure and facilities via the Section 106 agreement. These include contributions to the renovation of St James the Great Church, new play equipment for the playground at East Hanney, improvements to the Memorial Hall and additional infrastructure at St James Primary School.

Groundworks at the site commenced in October, with the first homes scheduled to be released for sale in Summer 2022.
