Lime Cordiale at the O2 Academy

Lime Cordiale at the O2 Academy

Following an interview with Oliver and Louis Leimbach of Lime Cordiale back in November 2021, last night we finally got to go along to see their sold-out performance at Oxford’s O2 Academy, and it’s safe to say it was well worth the covid-enforced wait.

Supported by the fantastically energetic UK alternative/indie band, Will and the People, the atmosphere was already set for the brothers before their eagerly awaited arrival. After their signature affectionate greetings to each other, they introduced their set with a trio of favourites: On Our Own, Naturally, and Can I be Your Lover.

The small O2 Academy was a contrast to that of what I’ve been keeping track of on their socials, attracting huge crowds around the rest of the world, but last night’s venue’s size handed itself to the intimacy of the gig, and the insatiable energy that the pair radiate.

There was a real and authentic feeling connection created between the crowd and the band, the pair certainly know how to have a good time and – I like to think – bounce off the English audience in that way. The band maintained this excitable energy from start to finish, before leaving us with their most popular tracks for an encore, Temper Temper, Robbery, and Inappropriate Behaviour.

I hope I don’t have to wait as long until going to the next Lime Cordiale gig – I’d be ready to go again tonight but I’m hoping this good mood it put me in lasts until next time.

Lime Cordiale are touring the UK until 3 October
