Professional theatre company – Mandala - founded by Yasmin Sidhwa, is delighted to have the support of three new Patrons, endorsing the company’s dynamic theatre and arts training.

Philip Selway is a member of the Oxford-based band, Radiohead, a solo artist and a composer for film and dance. Through his involvement with arts organisations in Oxford such as Arts at the Old Fire Station, Pegasus Theatre, and now Mandala Theatre Company, he recognises and supports the potential of the arts as a force for positive change in the local community and beyond.

Philip is joined by two new patrons Cait Morrison who is a co-director of Finn Black, production company, and a trustee of ChiPS, a charity supporting children through art and education and

Rosie Pearson who is curator of on form sculpture at Asthall Manor, where she lives.

Philip Selway said, “I’m proud to become a Patron of Mandala Theatre Company. With the wealth of talent amongst the young performers and the inspiring leadership of Yasmin Sidhwa, the company creates not only great original drama, but also nurtures confident, informed and individual voices. These are the voices that will bring about change, social justice and greater connection”.

7 billion people but whose voices are heard? Whose stories are told?

These are the questions that motivated and galvanised Yasmin to set up Mandala Theatre Company in July 2015, an Oxford based, national and international professional touring company, to make young performers feel part of a company where their stories, often invisible, are heard, offering pathways and opportunities to those from Black, Asian, Ethnic Minority and White working-class backgrounds, especially, into the creative industries.

Cait Morrison explains why they have become Patrons for Mandala, “We have respected and admired Yasmin’s work for a long time and are excited to be working with her again. Her high expectations and artistic values, her inexhaustible drive, and dedication to developing and showcasing the talent in her companies are absolute and unmatchable. We are totally committed to supporting her, and Mandala Theatre, to thrive, succeed and reach their goals long into the future”.

The new Patrons are committed to helping with Mandala's survival and sustainability through and post the pandemic - donations can be made here: http://www.mandalatheatre.co.uk/get-involved/make-a-donation/
