Shakespeare Distillery Launches New King's Coronation Gin

Coronation Gin 1

Shakespeare Distillery has launched a new Coronation Gin on 7 April to coincide with the celebrations around His Majesty’s Coronation.

The Coronation will take place on Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey when His Majesty, King Charles III will be crowned alongside the Queen Consort. The team at the independent artisan spirit producer in Stratford-upon-Avon have crafted a completely new dry gin which has taken inspiration from the Gin and Dubonnet beloved by the late Queen and Queen Mother.

The team have combined delicious flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica. The resulting juniper led gin has a wonderful fruity and robust finish, fit for a king! They suggest serving with Fever-tree Tonic or Fever-tree Light Indian tonic water, ice, and a slice of orange.

Simon Picken, Director at Shakespeare Distillery said: “We’re delighted to launch our special Coronation Gin in time for gin fans to enjoy a tipple whilst celebrating the King’s Coronation. The Coronation festivities will span three whole days in May, featuring two epic processions, a religious service, and a star-studded concert at Windsor Castle. It is well known that the late Queen and Queen Mother were both fans of Dubonnet and Gin so I hope King Charles will approve of our new addition”.

The Coronation Gin is available in three bottle options and retails at £34 for a 50cl bottle, £17.50 for a 20cl bottle and £6.50 for 5cl bottle. These can be purchased online at the distillery shop or from the shop at No 1 High Street, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Shakespeare Distillery have been successfully distilling Gin for the last seven years on their own premises. The company began distilling their own brand of British Rum on site in 2021 creating a White Rum named ‘Jester’ and a Spiced Rum to add to their portfolio of premium, handcrafted products. In 2022 the company expanded its business in the town centre and opened a brand-new experiences space with a Rum School.
