A Sanctuary Care home manager is bursting with pride after being shortlisted for the finals of the National Care Awards 2022.

Julie Cooper, who has been the manager of Watington & District Nursing Home for nearly 15 years, was nominated by her team for the Care Leadership category of the prestigious awards as a surprise – and couldn’t believe it when they told her she was a finalist!

She said: “I was absolutely speechless for the first time ever! I feel very proud and was very emotional reading all the lovely things that people had said about me in my nomination.

“I absolutely love my job and being part of the team here. We all work so hard to do our very best for our residents and enrich their lives each and every day, so to be recognised in this way is very special.”

In Julie’s nomination she was described as being “selfless”, with a “kindness and tenderness that knows no bounds”, inspiring a team who fill Watlington with “warmth and love”.

It revealed how she’s an “incredible role model who supports her staff to thrive”, “creating a home which feels like a family”, with a team “whose devotion to their residents shines.” It highlights just how Julie creates such a happy environment and has a very loyal and devoted team, with an incredible 39 members of staff having worked there for over 10 years.

Julie will hear if she has won at the finals of The National Care Awards 2022, organised by leading social care publication Caring Times, on 26 November in London so watch this space.
